Meet the Artist: Melody Trivisone

Hi sweet friends!

On February 1st, we will be launching our third exclusive collection with artist Melody Trivisone. Melody has worked with Julie on many commission pieces for clients. She is extremely talented in multiple mediums and creates beautiful work. As you have probably learned, we at G. Grace love for our friends to get to know the artist that they are buying a piece of art from. In order to introduce you to Melody, here are six fun questions about art, life, and everything else in between:

1. Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

I was raised in a small town in southern Ohio. It was beautiful there. We spent a lot of time outdoors, gardening, taking drives in the country, and visiting relatives who had large working farms. Because of the time spent outdoors, I think I have always been sensitive to my surroundings. Beautiful things such as Flowers, nature, landscapes, and clouds attract me. These things still inspire me today and I paint and draw based on my awareness of beauty.

2. Tell me about your favorite medium.

I began my art “Career” when I was just a little girl. I could escape with a box of crayons and some paper and be delighted for hours. I have tried several mediums and have loved some more than others. I think my favorite was encaustics, which I had to put away because I became ill from the fumes. Now, I dabble in Pen on paper and Oils. I would love to hone my watercolor skills…. This medium fascinates me. I love experimenting with all mediums.

3. Where do you find inspiration?

There is inspiration all around us. I have taught my grand girls to look closely at the colors in the sky, they have learned to pick out the cerulean blues, Davy’s gray, ochre, and rose madder. In Thompsons Station, We have some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever experienced. They are worth pulling off the road or walking around the neighborhood to take photos. I then try to emulate these rich colors that are far from just sky blue.

4. What motivates you to create?

I love taking walks on the surrounding trails around us. Here I pick up leaves, flowers, and other things as objects of inspiration. Beauty surrounds us… all we have to do is be present for it.

5. What's one piece of advice you would give your younger self, artist to artist?

Just do it. Do it consistently. You don’t even have to be good at it, just do it. I often hear people saying they used to paint, but don’t have the time now, quit when they had children, or some other excuse. I say, prioritize. “What’s more important, the Instagram post, or your happiness in doing something that you love?

6. Dream vacation?

I’m not a beach person. I would much prefer to go to the mountains, especially in the Fall. I love hiking, taking long walks, a little horseback riding, relaxing, and eating amazing meals. Not much for touristy places. I prefer a more secluded and nurturing atmosphere.

Melody is incredible at what she does. The way she can capture the beauty of the sky and all it has to offer is unmatched. She has created 4 unique and beautiful pieces for our gallery. This special collection will be available Thursday, February 1st at 10:00 A.M. CST in our online shop. Melody has also kindly chosen to donate all of the proceeds of this collection so 100% of the purchase price will go directly to our friends at the Forrest Spence Fund. We can’t thank her enough and are so excited for you to see her work!
